Fred Thelonious Baker (on bass and guitar) and Karen Street (on accordion and sax) on 4/9/2011 in Adbaston church.
Fred Thelonious Baker playing his tune “Hen Hoe Down (chicken pickin good)” to his wife’s chickens to see how they like it. The acoustic bass seems to go down well, as no crowing occurred during the show. This is truly and literally an unplugged performance with chickens happily joining in.
It’s also a rare chance to see FTB flat picking.
Fred’s new CD of original guitar pieces, Life Suite, is available now from First Hand Records. or from amazon.co.uk.
From Jazz Views’ review of the release:
Baker, a Derbyshire born virtuoso and first call session guitarist, demonstrates his prowess via the medium of a suite of original pieces that feature his many stylistic influences and interests from blues and country to flamenco via straight ahead jazz with detours into classical, folk and even touches of Elizabethan lute song.
